P.S.-I MADE THIS!
If there was an award out there for playing with your food, the adorable, edible creations of Cocina Marie would be going for gold. Her kooky characters turn empty plates into artist palates, not to mention encourage finicky kids to dig in! We got in on the food art fun with this grilled cheese shark…because why just cut off the crust when you can turn a bowl of tomato soup into a delicious underwater adventure? (P.S. - freak out on more fab foodie antics by following@psiatethis! )
To create: Heat a tablespoon of butter in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Place the cheese sandwich in the skillet and cook until golden brown on the bottom, approximately 3-5 minutes. Flip, adding more butter to the pan if needed, and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese melts. Remove sandwich from skillet and let cool for a few minutes. With your cookie cutter, stamp out the shape from the grilled cheese. For our shark shape, we used two sandwiches. Chop up a few pieces of green onions. Heat up your tomato soup. Pour the soup into a bowl then place the green onions followed by the shark sandwich and serve.

Allow your baby’s eye for DIY to develop early by filling their nursery with colorful, handmade decor! Johnson’s cool new product bottle designs, that are sold exclusively at Target and Target.com, are a great compliment to the modern mom’s taste, and we created this pom pom embellished straw basket to show them off in style. Nobody puts baby (products) in a corner when they look this good! ; )
To create: Wrap yarn around half of the pom pom maker. The more you wrap, the denser your pom pom will be. Once you’ve completed that half, fold the arm back in. Fold out the other half and continue to wrap the other half of the pom pom maker and close back shut. Use scissors to cut down the center. With another piece of yarn, tie a tight double knot around the entire pom. Remove the pom off the plastic by folding out the arms then pulling it apart at the center. Trim your pom pom so it is even all around but leave the string that tied the center. Thread that string through your basket and tie a double knot. Build up your design with several pom poms.

We love discovering the amazing work of all the creative makers & shakers out there, and this week we’re especially psyched to ‘hang’ with Dani Dias, whose site Gold Tyger is roaring with inspiration and originality. 70s inspired woven wall hangings like her gorg creation add a cozy, stylish texture to any room and work great in both monochromatic or mixed bright colors. Kick back and get down with some bobbing & weaving!
To create: Begin by adding the warp to the loom (a wooden frame). The warp is a set of lengthwise yarn strings held in tension on a frame. This will be the base for the weaving. Start with a tight double knot on the bottom left corner of the frame then loop the string over and around until you reach the end of the loom, then stop, and tie off. Leave approximately ¼" between the strings. Insert the shed stick though the alternating warp strings, and push to the top of your loom; this will serve as your shed. Starting at the bottom row, working from right to left tie off three pieces of yarn around each warp string to create a fringed look. Now you can begin weaving through the warp. With a tapestry needle, thread yarn over and under each string. Use a beater to push the weaving down. Swap in alternate colors at different rows. Repeat this process until the entire warp is woven. Once finished, remove the weaving off the loom by carefully snipping the warps around the top of the loom, leaving enough room to tie your weaving to your bar. Tie each set of warp into a square knot. Repeat the process at the bottom of the loom. Finish off your wall hanging by sliding an acrylic bar through the top of the knotted warps.

Designers from Balenciaga to Rebecca Minkoff have utilized the minimalism of a marble finish to add sleek dimension to their accessories; and so should you! Jump on this trend that’s sure to remain timeless…and thank us later for your new favorite clutch.
To create: Measure the surfaces of your acrylic box clutch. With a marker andruler, trace out the shapes on the backside of the marble contact paper. We used two pieces for the top and bottom then a third piece that covers the clutch from side to side. Cut the pieces out with scissors. Peel the back off the contact paper and carefully adhere to the coinciding surfaces of the clutch. Repeat to the opposite side of the clutch.

Nobody puts baby in a corner, and nobody tells baby she can’t wear white jeans after labor day! If you’re not ready to give up on your favorite summer staple just yet, give ‘em a flashy revamp with this simple, shimmering DIY. Metallic deco foil layered onto the back pockets adds an unexpected pop that will make mouths drop.
To create: Squeeze a dollop of glue into a plastic dish and brush a thin layer of glue over the entire back pocket of your jeans. Let glue dry slightly for 30 seconds. Place half a sheet of teal transfer foil on top of the glue, silver side down. Gently smooth down the foil with your fingers. Lay parchment paper on top of the foil transfer and iron on medium heat for 20 seconds. Be sure to press firmly near the stitches to get into the creases. Let sit until completely cool then peel away the teal foil. Next, layer the pumpkin color foil on top. Repeat steps but brush only a few strokes of the glue. Let foil sit completely for 72 hours before wearing.

To create: Remove the canvas fabric from the beach chair frame. Starting at the top left corner, place the scallop stencil and hold it in place with a light coat of tacky spray and painter’s tape. Paint in the scallop shapes with a light silver fabric paint. Let dry for a few minutes then remove the scallop stencil and place beside the painted area. Continue this step until the you’ve completed painting the top row of scallops silver. Place the stencil a few scallop rows lower and starting from left to right, paint the scallops a light mint color. Blend the silver and mint with a dry brush. Continue painting and mixing the hues until you’ve painted the entire surface, paint your lightest hue first and your darkest last. Let dry completely then place the fabric back on the frame.
